The Story

Southwest England, 500 years ago…

“It’s time, Miles,” Festus said at first light.

“I’m not going to make it, am I?”

“I’m afraid not. They are too close and moving too fast.”

“What now?”

“I’ll take it far from here. You’ll recover at the inn. They’ll follow the relic and leave you in peace.”

“How long will it be?”

“500 years.”

“And if he’s cursed me?”

“It may go with the relic… or it may remain with you. We’re not sure.”

The curse did not stay with the relic. It stayed with Miles and has troubled all of his descendants.

500 Years Later

Annily Edwards—a quiet artist from Michigan—planned a peaceful trip to Scotland and England.

Annily sets off on her trip with a sketchbook in hand and a plan to rest, reflect, and draw her way through gardens, historic sites, and quiet cafes. She doesn’t expect anything unusual, who would?

Until a ring she didn’t pack shows up in her bag.

From Edinburgh to the Isle of Wight, strange things begin to happen.

And when she meets a man named David (again!)—carrying a story as strange as her own—Annily finds herself drawn into something deeper than coincidence.

No, all prices are what you see is what you get. Shipping will appear, if it applies, in the cart.

What age range is this for?

The story is family friendly and written at a 6th grade reading level. Annily is an adult and begins the trip by traveling solo. In keeping with cozy stories, there is no swearing, alcohol or drug use, or sexual content. This would be a great family bonding experience, and you could pretend the letters are from a distant cousin!

Is Annily real? Is this a true story?

Annily feels real, but she is pure imagination. Her story and her world is for you to discover and enjoy.

Do you need to have access to a computer?

There is bonus content on the web: a couple websites are mentioned in the story, and they are pages you can visit for more information. It would be helpful to be able to access the web, but if this is impossible, please let us know.

🛑 Spoilers Below - Proceed with Caution

Is there romance?

No. At the end of the story there's the possibility that David and Annily might develop a relationship, but none during the story. You can choose if you think they'll just be good friends or more!

Is there magic?

The bad guys who are following Annily work for a sorcerer. They are tracking her, or more precisely the ring, with an incantation.

Annily is not a witch, nor does she use magic. She has a prophetic gift that can flow when she taps into her intuition and listens for the voice of the One (or God as I would call Him.)

Is there religion?

I'm a Christian, and the story is from that worldview, but there is no preaching. Annily has a gift with her drawings that helps resolve the adventure and gives clues. In my mind, it's a prophetic gift, but you can choose how you wish to see it.

How tense is the story?

That's hard for me to say, as I wrote it, and know how it ends. There's no violence, although Annily and David are abducted at one point and there are several cliff hangers throughout the story. All are resolved by the end, though.

In keeping with Cozy stories, and with what I prefer to read, there's a happy ending.
